How to Stand Out as a TSMC International Intern Candidate

In 2025, we received over 8,000 applications for 200 international intern slots. Here's what our recruitment team looks for.

Roles We Recruit Internationally

• Process Integration & Development
• Device Engineering
• Quality & Reliability
• Software Engineering (EDA, Automation, AI/ML)
• Data Science & Analytics

For international students, EDA Software and AI/ML Research roles have the most English-friendly environments.

What Makes a Strong Candidate

Technical depth over breadth. We don't need someone who has touched 15 technologies. A candidate who has written a thesis on process variation modeling is more compelling than someone with "exposure" to 10 semiconductor topics.

Research track record. Papers published or conference presentations carry significant weight for PhD intern candidates.

The Interview Process

  • CV screening — 2 weeks after application close
  • Technical phone screen — 45 minutes
  • On-site or virtual technical interview — 90 minutes
  • HR fit interview — 30 minutes
  • Offer decision — 2–3 weeks after final round
  • Salary (2025 data)

    • AI/ML Research Intern: 35,000–45,000 TWD/month
    • Process Integration Intern: 30,000–38,000 TWD/month
    • Software Engineering Intern: 38,000–48,000 TWD/month
    • Plus: shuttle bus, meal subsidy 150 TWD/day, housing allowance 5,000 TWD/month
